This Privacy Policy explains how Talk to History ("the App", "we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information. By using the App, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use Talk to History:

• Account information: email address and authentication data provided via Google Sign-In or Apple Sign-In.
• Conversation data: messages you send to historical figures and the AI-generated responses, stored securely in Firebase Firestore.
• Location data: approximate country derived from GPS coordinates, used only to personalise your figure recommendations. We do not store your precise GPS coordinates beyond the current session.
• Usage data: anonymised analytics events (e.g. which figures you chat with, feature usage) collected via Firebase Analytics.
• Device data: IP address collected when you submit a figure suggestion.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and improve the app's core features.
• To personalise figure recommendations based on your region.
• To respond to your figure suggestions.
• To maintain and protect your account.
• To understand how users interact with the app in aggregate.

3. Third-Party Services

Talk to History uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase (Google): authentication, database, analytics, and crash reporting. Google's Privacy Policy applies.
• AI API: your messages are processed via our secure server-side Cloud Functions. Your messages are not sent directly to AI from your device and are not used to train AI models.
• Google Sign-In / Apple Sign-In: for account authentication only.

4. Data Retention

Your conversation history is stored until you delete it or delete your account. You can delete individual conversations from the history panel, or delete your entire account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account.

5. Children's Privacy

Talk to History is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, go to Settings → Delete Account. For other data requests, contact us at support@talktohistory.app.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
